No, actually, that’s not what you’re doing. Your initial post clearly referred indiscriminately to an entire and all-encompassing genre; the only distinguishing marker you gave the works you were criticizing was “grim AU fanfics,” which covers a truly vast array of stories, and not one of the factors you named is inherently bad, although they - like literally any narrative element - CAN be deployed badly.

And if two paragraphs is too long for you (in which case, I have to wonder how you’ve managed to read anything ever), allow me to summarize for those of us who can’t be bothered to support our opinions:

originality as a measure of a story’s worth is inherently unworkable, because there is no such thing as a truly original story.

Also, you realize that LITERALLY THE ONLY difference between amateur and professional is the exchange of money, right? And that said exchange of money doesn’t actually depend on quality? 

For example: Professional horror. Work by amateurs. (Occupancy at time of writing: unknown.) Tell me again how it’s the professionals who do good work and amateurs don’t?
